Community Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is an accessible, web-based platform designed to support the delivery, management, and coordination of teaching and learning within community-based education. It enables course developers to share educational content, facilitate communication, and support learner engagement in a flexible and collaborative setting tailored to local or grassroots learning needs.

The terminology surrounding Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) is often ambiguous and inconsistently applied. Various overlapping terms such as CMS (Content Management System), LMS (Learning Management System), and LAMS (Learning Activity Management System) are frequently used to describe similar or related platforms. These inconsistencies stem from differences in contextual usage, the inclusion or exclusion of specific functionalities, and varied interpretations by different authors.

For instance, the term “LMS” may refer to a Learning Management System—a platform designed for the creation, management, and delivery of learning content. However, some authors use “LMS” to mean Learner Management System, which emphasizes student administrative functions such as timetabling, updating personal information, and managing payment details. Others consider the two terms interchangeable. This lack of consensus necessitates a clear and unified definition.

The Diversiton VLE is defined as an administrative platform that supports teaching, learning, and the online delivery of study material. While this definition may differ from some prevailing interpretations, it is tailored to meet the unique needs of a community course developer.

We use different pedagogical theories, depending on the clients needs.
